Whilst not officially invasive, it is widely naturalising across the UK and could be viewed as such soon. The original celery, introduced by Romans to help fill the hungry gap.

Locate an experienced forager as alexanders can be confused with the highly poisonous Hemlock Water dropwort.

Flavour a bit like celery with a hint of parsley and a slight peppery undertone.

Leaves & young shoots edible, raw or cooked, also young florets. Young seedlings can be used as a parsley substitute, seeds as a pepper substitute.

This is Douglas McMasters favourite plant that is best in winter. It grills and caramelises like no other. Rub the stems in butter or oil and grill on a high heat. You can even deep fry the unopened flower buds.
